Taiwan Must Eats

HOT STAR XXL CHICKEN & XING FU TANG BOBA (Ximending Night Market)

In Taiwan, you HAVE to get boba and fried chicken at least once!! They go hand in hand and these two places are actually right next to each other in Ximending Night Market! The chicken is huge, crispy, flavorful, and juicy!

Xing Fu Tang originated from Taiwan and I know they have opened up a couple of locations in the U.S. but its not the same, you gotta try it in Taiwan. The boba is chewy and soft and they make it in front of you. You gotta get the bown sugar boba with milk and if you feel fancy, add some gold flakes!

AY- CHUNG FLOUR RICE NOODLE (Ximending Night Market)

This noodle spot is also located in Ximending Night Market, about 3-5 stores from Xing Fu Tang boba shop. The noodles are soft enough where you don’t need to chew and can swallow because it’s soupy (broth is a little bit of thicker side). It’s amazingly flavorful, comes with intestines, green onions, and you can add chili oil/vinegar to your liking. DON’T SKIP ON THIS!

YONG HE SOYMILK (Ximending District)

You cannot leave without trying the traditional Taiwanese breakfast that consist of soymilk and fried donut!

Also want to note that it is a SUPER SMALL PLACE, the lines are always long and service is not the best.

CHING CHENG HOINAN CHICKEN RICE (Songshan District)

I came here in November 2019 and this whole plate of food was only 115NT$ which is only $4USD!!! Can you believe this? It makes a person want to get this everyday!! It also comes with unlimited soup and sauces! The chicken was so juicy and tender and the rice was fragrant! One of the best and affordable meals in Taiwan.

GIA-FINE SHABU SHABU (Da’an District)

Have you ever had a creamy milky cheese broth for shabu shabu??

I personally love it because I love milk and cheese, but if you don’t, this isn’t the shabu place for you. What makes this place special or a place that you need to try is for their milk cheese broth. Other than that, their meats and veggies are tasty, but nothing special.

The broth is a bit on the heavy side because it’s more creamy than a miso broth. You wouldn’t think dipping meats and veggies would be good, but surprisingly it works together so well!
