One Pot Rice Cooker Hainanese Chicken

What is Hainanese Chicken?

Hainanese Chicken is a simple poached chicken and seasoned rice dish. If you go to Asia, especially Singapore, you will see this classic dish everywhere for such an affordable price! It’s light, healthy, and a comforting meal to enjoy.

How long does it take to prepare?

If you cook this the traditional way, it will take about an hour and has quite a few steps. However, you could also make this in a rice cooker!

Does having the right rice cooker matter in this dish?

Yes, you need a good rice cooker because the cheaper ones might not cook the chicken all the way. I’ve been using the Tiger Brand rice cooker and it has been great for one pot meals.

Nothing beats a one pot rice cooker meal that turns out like this!!

Typically it is eaten with a scallion ginger oil or a sweet chili sauce

These are all the ingredients needed to make this dish. Plus water and rice.
