Mango Jackfruit Sago

What is sago?

Sago dessert is a sweet and refreshing Asian dessert made from sago pearls, which are small, translucent balls made from the starch of various palm trees.

Sago pearls are commonly used in Southeast Asian cuisine to create a variety of desserts and beverages.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sago

  • 1.5 cup fresh mango (cut in cubes)

  • 1.5 cup fresh jackfruit (cut in pieces)

  • 1/2 jar nata de coco

  • 1 jar coconut milk

  • 1/2 cup condensed milk

  • 1/2 cup half & half

  • 3/4 cup evaporated milk

  • OPTIONAL- ice cubes

Tips//

  1. When making the sago, I like using a little more than the recommended water ratio, this is easier for the sago to cook

  2. Coconut milk does thicken in the fridge, so the longer it is left in the fridge, the thicker consistency it will have

  3. If you want to prep this, you can mix everything in except the coconut milk until you’re ready to eat it

  4. The ratio I did above is the perfect ratio of sweetness, creaminess, and liquids. You can use that as base and mix any fruits you like for other sago combinations.

There are so many sago desserts and combinations you can make, but my favorite one so far is mango jackfruit!

Imagine the sweet aroma of ripe mangoes mingling with the exotic essence of jackfruit, all blended together into a luscious, creamy concoction. Now, picture tiny pearls of sago suspended in this velvety paradise, adding a delightful texture to every spoonful.

Directions:

  1. Cook 1 cup sago according to package, drain, rinse with cold water

  1. Cut mangos & jackfruit into bite size pieces

  2. In a large bowl, mix everything in

  3. Fridge for 3-5 hours then it’s ready to eat!
